Junior Prom
We went to Syracuse to get her dress
with two of her friends and her best friend’s mom.
She chose flowy sky-blue silk, crisscrossed laces over bare back,
tiny waist, slumped pale shoulders, beautiful long-fingered hands,
a lifetime’s worth of hair under her arms.
