Dear Emily,

I have a collection of four brooches, all sterling silver, all vintage, all somewhat “valuable.” All were gifts or inherited. They are all very pretty in my jewelry box….but maybe not so modern to wear.

I’m also in my early 50s, placing me squarely in the hot zone of being too old to seem clever or ironic by wearing pins, yet too young to pull…
